How do I create Additional Questions?

Find out how to add Additional Questions, where your customers answer them, and how to see if a booking has an Additional Question attached.

What are Additional Questions?

Additional questions are shown to your customers before the checkout process and allow them to answer pre-set questions such as how many people will be attending the booking, or if they need any coaching.

You can create Additional Questions in Bookteq and choose which facility bookings they belong to.

How do I create an Additional Question?

Creating an Additional Question is very similar to creating an Add-on. Navigate to the Additional Questions section of your Venue Settings to get started.

There you will be met with a screen to create your first Additional Question.

Writing your question

After clicking on the Create an additional question button you will be asked the name your question. This name is for internal use and won't be shown to customers.

You'll then be asked to write your Full question. This field will be shown to the customer so make sure the question is clearly written and easy for a customer to understand.

You can then select whether your question requires a text, number, or yes/no response, and define whether it requires an answer or can be left blank.

Allocating Additional Questions to your facilities

Next, you'll be asked to select the facilities you would like your Additional Question to apply to.

You may want to apply some questions to all facilities, but there may also be cases where you want them to only apply to specific facilities. For example, you would only want to offer coaching for your sport bookings, as this would be irrelevant for space hire facilities.

Remember to select all applicable facilities. For example, if you want to make coaching available for all pitch bookings and your pitch is split into two half pitches, make sure you have selected both.

Now you're set! Just click the Save Changes button and your Additional Question will be created. If you have a booking calendar widget set up for your chosen facilities, this will be updated instantly to include your new question.

Viewing and editing Additional Questions

After creating a question, if you navigate back to the Additional Questions section in your Venue Settings you will see a list of them. You can view and edit them from this screen.

How and where do customers answer Additional Questions?

There are two ways customers can answer additional questions.

Answering Additional Questions through a booking calendar widget

Firstly, a customer can answer a question directly at the facility level of the booking widget on your website. After they have picked a date and time to book at their chosen facility, they will be shown your question(s), assuming you have added any for that facility.

After answering the question, they will proceed to the checkout to pay for their booking.

Answering Additional Questions through Bookteq

The alternative way to answer a question for a booking is by creating the booking yourself through the Bookteq system. This is especially helpful if you don't yet have a Bookteq calendar widget set up on your website.

When you select the the facility, and set the date and time you'd like to create a booking for through Bookteq, you will be shown the Additional Questions for that facility at the bottom of the booking modal. Simply answer the question on behalf of the customer and add the booking to your basket.

How to see if a booking has an Additional Question

You can see if a booking includes a question in two places on Bookteq: the Calendar section and the Bookings section. In both areas, you will see a ? symbol next to a booking to indicate that an Additional Question has been answered.
