Get guidance on how to set up an Instagram business page for your facility
Facebook owns Instagram, so it’s better to sign up to Facebook first as this will help fast-track the creation of your Instagram page.
-
Download Instagram App
Download the Instagram app from the App Store (for iPhone) or Google Play Store (for Android) and install it on your smartphone. -
Sign Up
Open the Instagram app and tap "Sign Up." Enter your email address or phone number, then create a username and password for your account. -
Complete Profile
After signing up, you'll be prompted to complete your profile. Add your business name, profile picture (like your logo), and a brief bio that describes your business. -
Switch to a Business Account
Go to your profile settings, tap "Account," then tap "Switch to Professional Account." Follow the prompts to select a business category and connect your Instagram account to a Facebook Page (if you have one). -
Add Contact Information
In your profile settings, tap "Edit Profile" and add your business contact information, including your email address, phone number, and business address. -
Customise Profile
Customise your profile by adding a profile picture, writing a compelling bio, and including a link to your website or online store in the "Website" field. -
Create Your First Post
Tap the "+" icon at the bottom of the screen to create your first post. You can upload a photo or video from your phone's camera roll, add filters and captions, and tag your location or other users. -
Use Hashtags
Include relevant hashtags in your posts to make them discoverable to users who are interested in similar topics. You can add hashtags directly in your caption or as a comment on your post. Find out more about using hashtags in this support article. -
Engage with Your Audience
Stay active on Instagram by posting regularly and engaging with your audience. Respond to comments, messages, and mentions from your followers to build relationships and grow your following. -
Explore Instagram Features
Spend some time exploring the different features and functionalities of Instagram, such as Stories, Reels, IGTV, and Shopping. Experiment with different types of content to see what resonates best with your audience.
Tip: When you switch to a Professional account on Instagram, you’ll be asked if you want to link a Facebook Page. This is strongly recommended but it is not mandatory. However, by integrating your Facebook Page with Instagram, you can get the most out of Instagram professional tools. For example, you'll be able to post on the two channels at the same tine.
